How to translate this word?

Plz help me, I don't know how to translate "Trạng" to English?

I think we shall not translate word by word in this case. We still keep "Trạng" inyour translation and at the end of your translation, you can drop a note that "Trạng" is the first doctoral candidate under Vietnamese feudal regime.
This is my opinion. Please update if you have any best translation for this word. Thank you.
